What are the negative things about life in a town?

4. What are the negative things about life in a town?
People living in towns have less time, often living busy and stressful lives. There is a lot of noise, busy traffic, polluted air and water, or even smog hanging above the city. People live in tall blocks of flats in huge residential areas with lack of green spaces, parks, and even places for children to play. You cannot walk to the woods, so people often go to the countryside where they have thein summer houses and cottages.

Are there any advantages in living in towns?

3. Are there any advantages in living in towns?
By contrast, there are quite a lot of schools and shopping facilities in towns. In other words, there are more jobs available, better housing, cultural and sporting facilities and hospitals. People often work close to the place where they live and do not have to commute.

What negative features are there in living in the country?

2. What negative features are there in living in the country?
What makes life in the country a but uneasy is transport. In some places, buses operate only twice or free times a day. Most people have to commutee to tors as there are very few jobs available in the country. Shopping is mostly done in towns, too; villages only have one or two stores with a limited offer of goods and higher prices as well. Pupils and students have to commute to school every day. There are also few possibilities to fully participace in cultural life. Another disadvantage is that everyone knows everyone and life can therefore never be anymous.

What household jobs do you know and have to do?

4. What household jobs do you know and have to do?
I have to help my mum to do the clearing every week. It’s usually Friday afternoon hen our flat has to be clean and tidy. My sister and I dust the furniture in our rooms, water the plants and hoover the carpet. My mum doest the rest; she cleans the bathroom, does the washing and mops the floor. Sometimes, hen it’s our turn, we also have to do the stairs in our building. At other times we chase the bed linen, clean the windows, wash the curtains and then someone has to iron them. We hang the clothes out to dry in our balcony. We also regularly také out the litterm clean our parrot’s cage and of course wash up and dry the dishes. I wish we had a dishwasher!

What advantages are there in living in the country?

1.       What advantages are there in living in the country?
In the country, nature is beautiful because of all the woods, lakes and fields. There are no factories, it is quiet and the air is fresh. You can do anything there. You can do sports, grow flowers or keep domestic animals. People mostly live in detached houses with gardens around them where they can grow fruits and vegetables.

5. Choose one room in your house and describe everything you see.
My room is square and wuite small. The walls are covered with white and blue wallpaper. On the floor there is a wall-to-wall carpet. There i sone Windows just opposite the door. Below the Windows is the central rating radiator. To the right of the door is a bunk bed. My brother used to sleep on the top but now we store duvets and eiderdowns there. On my bed there is a pillow covered over by a brown bedspread. Between the bed and the window is a wardrobe which is alaways full. On the opposite side there is a bookcase, some furniture and a desk with a chair.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a house and in a flat?

3. What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a house and in a flat?
It must be very nice to live in a house with a beautiful garden, preferably with a swimming pool. You can go out and have a sim whenever you want, you can read in the garde nor just relax. You can also hold barbecue parties for your friends. I’d really love to live in a house. But it must be hard work too. I know from my friends who live in a house that they have to help much more than I have to, they have to mow the lan for instance which might take an hour and you have to do it every week.  I tis also more expensive to live in, especially with the rating bills in winter and the difficult maintenance as there is always something that needs repair. Living in a flat is more comfortable, less expensive but there is no privacy. You must be quiet at night as neighbours may complain. It’s also difficult to keep pets in a flat.

What does your house/flat look like?

2. What does your house/flat look like?
The biggest room in our flat is the living room with a sofa, some furniture and a balcony where my mum grows a lot of plants. One of the living room corners is also used as a study where there is a desk with a computer on it. Next to i tis my parent’s bedroom with a double bed and wardrobes. This room is quite small, the same size as mine and my sister’s room. I used to share my room with my older brother but since he left it has been only mine. All rooms open into the kitchen which is rectangular in shape and not very spacious. There is just enough space for the kitchen unit, a smaller dining table, a fridge and a pantry which is rather a wardrobe for good. There i salso a small bathroom with a bath tub, basin and a  toilet. There is a small utility room next to the entrance hall. We can also store some things down in the cellar. Here we keep our bicycles, skis, my father’s tools and potatoes and stewed fruit in winter.

Describe the place where you live.

1. Describe the place where you live.
I live in a four-room flat in a housing estate not far from the town centre. I tis a block of flats with four storeys, we live on the fourth floor, and unfortunately there is no lift. There are no ganges ether and very few parking places so sometimes my dad has to park our car quite far from the main door. The surroundings of our house are quite nice as there are a lot of trees and lawns everywhere. But you have to mind where you step because there are many dogs around and their owners mostly don’t clean up thein droppings. Our housing estate looks generally nice, a lot of grey buildings now have a new coloured facade. There i salso a good connection to both the centre and the railway station. Quite a few bus lines serve the area.

Would you ever adopt a child or foster a child?

5. Would you ever adopt a child or foster a child?
Some childless couples decide to adopt a child from a foster-home. I tis usually a very difficult and quite problematic thing to do. It takes ages since you apply for a child till you really „get“ a child home and in the meantime, children grow older and find it more difficult to adapt to a new home. Some children also have speacial Leeds; they are for instance disabled or suffer from some diseases. Anyway, all of them have been at least partly neglected so it takes a lot of time and patience to bring them up. The care that usually precedes adoption  is called foster care. Some people don’t have the neceséry patience and courage for adoption but still want to help children in need so they at least provide money to a particular child from a developing country for education, food, etc., though they might never see them personally. Anybody can foster a child like this, even a school class. I think that adoption or foster care is a very demanding thing to do, and I am not sure whether I would have the neceséry courage, time and determination to do that. But who knows, everything is possible.

Why do people get divorced more often than before?

4. Why do people get divorced more often than before?
People get divorced much more often than before because it’s much easier now. People used to get married in a durch and the Catholic Church didn’t approve of divorce and it still doesn’t. Another diference is the higher standard of living which enables e.g. women to stay and „survive“ on thein own once they have got divorced. There is also a strong influence by celebrities who very often get divorced. So, to be divorced has stopped being a disgrace and people have started applying this as the easiest solution to their problems with partners.

What is the ideal age for having children?

3. What is the ideal age for having children?
Modern mothers are petting older and older. Career seems to be more important to them so it always comes first. Most people also prefer to have fler children who they want to be able to provide for with all luxuries possible. We can rarely see big families with four or more children nowadays.

What is the usual age for getting married?

2. What is the usual age for getting married?
Many people get married as late as at the age of thirty or even later. Before that they prefer to concentrate on thein studies and then work and of course, focus on earning money as the current social system does not offer many possibilities for mothers on maternity leave.

Is it important to get married nowadays?

1.  Is it important to get married nowadays?
Although most people do get married these days, there are more and more young people who prefer to stay single, though they live together and raise children together. The discouraging mason of a marriage probably is the fact that it is so easy to get divorced. It didn’t use to be like that because women used to stay and work at home so if they would separate, they would have had quite a problem to get by. Now women go out to work and earn, so i tis not that impossible for them to live and raise children on thein own. This financial independence that enables people to stay single even with children may be mason for the inwillingness of many couples to get married.

When should children leave home?

8. When should children leave home?
These days children leave thein parents later than Theky used to. The mason is that they want to study as long as possible, then travel the world and perhaps then become independent. For many young people it is also difficult to get a place to live unless thein parents help them or Theky get a really good job with high salary. So most of them prefer to start thein carem first and hen they have reached a certain position Theky settle down and start thein own family. People also tend to get married much later than before. In my opinion i tis not bad to stay with your parents for longer provided Theky don’t mind, of course. This way you can save a lot of money that you will need for buying your house or flat and you can put off very servus decisions concerning your future for a while.
